Drops is game-changing approach to language learning - quite literally. We took ‘boring’ out of vocabulary learning! Only 5 minutes a day: Drops limits your learning time to 5 minutes. This might sound crazy but works like charm. Learning a new language might feel overwhelming but by chunking down into 5-minute sprints, the barrier of entry is nonexistent. No excuses: you ALWAYS have 5 minutes! The time constraint induces ridiculous focus which further enhances the effectiveness of memorization. 100% Visual learning: Every single word is beautifully illustrated. Your eyes will appreciate the delicious pictures and your mind will store the new memories more efficiently: you won’t have use the word of your native language but connect the new words to the illustration of the meaning. It is freakishly immersive but in this case you don’t waste your time playing instead you build a valuable asset: knowledge of a new language. Swipe based: We believe in quick pace and keyboard typing is anything but fast. Say hello to rapid swipes and taps! You’ll need those extra seconds to get the most out of your 5 minutes ;) Strategic vocabulary selection: The “what” is perhaps more important than “how”. We handpicked 1700+ practical words in 100 topics that you’ll actually use when you let’s say travel to a country where your new language is spoken. Forge learning habit: Drops wants to convert you into a learning addict. No matter how effective your learning tool is, if you don’t use it on a daily basis, it doesn’t really matter. Drops tricks your mind and you’ll be better for it! I’m sure you’ll love Drops as much as we enjoyed making it. If so, please leave us a review so we can make Drops even better! :) p.s.: We take full responsibility for the potential addiction to learning. ----------------- Keep tuned as even more languages are in the pipe! • New update ruined Cantonese course

    By suoopohhuodd167
Even before the update I had some issues with the Cantonese course. The romanizations were inaccurate most of the time, often giving wrong initials and finals and pretty much always depicting wrong tones. I turned the romanizations off and besides the occasional wrong tones (which I checked w my HK friends and had to make mental notes to correct for myself) things were fine. Then the update happened and the Cantonese course is just wrong. Now the vocabulary is literally taken from the Mandarin course and put through a Cantonese pronunciation filter or something! One word even straight up had the Mandarin audio play. One phrase 我鍾意 is now on the app 我喜歡 which no Cantonese speaker would ever say to their friend, its the Mandarin phrase pronounced in Cantonese. This is seriously frustrating, more than half of the words are just blatantly wrong and never spoken in conversion and the others just so happen to be the same in mandarin. Please fix it! Despite the romanization errors and occasional weird tones, it had the correct stuff vocab wise before the update so hopefully you can fix it easily and revert it back. If it's not done so within a day I'd like a refund of my subscription. I subscribed to learn only Cantonese and already dealt with issues before but now it's just an inaccurate course. My subscription is monthly and it's currently not giving me a months worth of access. Also kind of annoying too that your support forum site did not work for me when I applied to join and voice my complaint. Never got the email confirming my account so I had to reply here. Nevertheless, I'm still super thankful to this app for providing Cantonese help. I know Cantonese is likely one of your lowest played courses. I also did notice the now accurate romanizations. Hopefully you see this and help us learners out.

  • Easy to learn and fun!

Great pace for a true beginner! I have tried other apps, and they were very discouraging, beginning at a level much too difficult for someone trying to learn a completely foreign language. Drops begins with the alphabet and uses varying methods that not only make sure you are learning the material but make it enjoyable to learn.
  • The picture / word method works, pros & cons

    By Bendrick666
Seems like a really effective way to boost your vocabulary. The picture / word association method is great and I appreciate the design skill that went into all the iconic imagery. The app looks really nice visually. On the downside - I wish there were more rewards and incentives for getting streaks, beating your own record for words per day, rewards for amount of accuracy on your learning, etc. All they have is a 5-day streak challenge, sorta. Also there is no way to look back at your history of using the app day by day to see your stats and so on. I’m not sure there is a real goal established for completing all the words in each category either. Simple motivational aspects they would make learning more game like. I have not decided if this is an app I want to do anything more than use in the free app way. Over time it may improve enough for me to want to pay a bit for it.
